(Jackson, Wyo.) - The Art Association of Jackson Hole announced yesterday that they are accepting entries for the 2016 Artist of the Year Competition. The 2015 Artist of the Year, Katy Ann Fox,
was given opportunity to work with Jackson Hole Still Works to create the
art for the very first label of their new Highwater Vodka. The original
painting for the bottle hung in the Art Association until it was raffled
off at the 2015 Art Heist event.
This year, the Art Association will again partner with Jackson Hole Still
Works, so the 2016 Artist of the Year will create the label for the
Highwater Vodka bottle.
The theme for this annual Art Competition is, “WYOMING.”
"We invite artists from the state of Wyoming and Teton County, Idaho to
submit their works that are expressive of the great state of Wyoming,"
stated the Art Association in a release issued yesterday.
The medium for the final artwork is open to 2D mediums including
watercolor, oil, pastel, pencil, acrylic, collage, multimedia, and must be
reproducible on a label. Only one of a kind (no editions allowed), original
framed 2D square piece with a minimum dimension of 12”x12”.
Eight finalists will be invited to the June 17 Artist of the Year
announcement party, hosted by Jackson Hole Still Works. That evening the
First Place winner will be revealed and they will receive the distinction
of being named the 2016 Art Association of Jackson Hole’s Artist of the
Year. The winning artwork will be purchased and reproduced on Jackson Hole
Still Works Highwater Vodka bottle label for one year. The winner will also
receive a $2,000 Grand Prize, a 6-bottle case of Highwater Vodka with his
or her art on the new label, and an invitation to the Highwater Vodka
Release Party in September. The winning artwork will be donated to the Art
Association to be raffled off during the summer in support of the Art
Association’s visual arts programming with the winner of the raffle to be
announced at the September Release Party.
