Obituary: Cynthia Herdt Clarke

Cindi was born in Kearney, Nebraska on November 17, 1956 to Elaine and Wilbert Herdt. Cindi was athletic and a standout in volleyball and track at Giltner High. She always had a love of sports and fitness and knew she would continue that somehow in her life. She graduated from Hastings Tech and later moved to Lincoln. Her fitness dream came true shortly after marrying Randy Clarke. She began teaching fitness classes at the Body Shop in Lincoln. Soon after that she started working for the Lincoln Racquet Club. Her knowledge and love for fitness grew as she learned more and attended many fitness conferences. The fitness stage was her podium to teach and help others attain their goals. It was her communication conduit. She loved her students and always wanted to help them as much as she could. She became the Aerobics Coordinator and taught many types of classes and met many others who shared her fitness vision. After a vacation in Jackson Hole in 2003 with her husband, they fell in love with the area and decided to move there permanently. She immediately got a fitness job which continued her dream. Cindi’s other loves were for her Rottweiler dogs (and all dogs) and Husker Sports (especially football, volleyball and track). Cindi is survived by her husband, two sisters and brothers in law, Brenda and Gene Gartner of Hastings, and Debbie and Virgil Kruse of Grand Island, brother Steve Herdt, nieces Melissa Peeples, Lori Stepper, Megan Aupperlee and nephew Kevin Kruse, whom she all loved. Please send condolences via or donate to your local animal shelter in Cindi’s name. #buckrail #news #obits
