Local kids take flight (kinda)

(Jackson, Wyo.) - Monday, the Journeys School Pre-Kindergarten class visited Teton County Search and Rescue to learn about flight. According to Nick Delmolino, Senior Director of Marketing and Communications for Teton Science Schools, the kids are exploring objects of flight and have studied rockets, traveled to the airport to learn more about planes, and then went to learn about how helicopters fly. The kids met with the helicopter pilot, who gave them an in-depth look at how helicopters work. They also learned how the propellers spin, how helicopters aid in rescue, how the steering works and more. Children even got to imagine themselves as real pilots -- they were able put on helmets and climb inside. “Maybe when I’m bigger I can fly a helicopter,” said one child.
