(Jackson, Wyo.) - This week was the World Beer Cup, an event where more than 1,400 breweries from 22 countries submit 5,000 beers for bronze, silver and gold awards. Turmoil from Barley Brown’s Brew Pub in Baker City, Oregon received the Gold in the category and Midnight Moonlight from Fat Head’s Brewery in Middleburg Heights, Ohio received Bronze. The World Beer Cup was started in 1996 to showcase how diverse brewing styles can be across every country. The awards happen every two years, with 5,000 different beers from 22 countries and more than 1,400 breweries competing for a gold, bronze, or silver medal. This year's ceremony was in Philadelphia. More than 200 judges scored taste, aroma and appearance to find the world's finest brews. At the end, they totaled up how many points each company received based on their total number of entries and medals in those categories in order to determine the World Champion Brewery.
