Marylee White to run for Wyoming HD 22

(Wilson, Wyo.) - Marylee White, of Wilson, has announced her intention to run on the Democratic ticket for the Wyoming legislature in House District 22, currently held by Marti Halverson of Etna. Marylee is out of the country on a long-planned family trip, but has made arrangements to file while she is away. Marylee is a fourth generation Wyomingite and has lived in Wilson for many years. She graduated from the University of Wyoming with a degree in journalism and worked for the Jackson Hole News before it merged with the Guide in 2002. Over the years, she has maintained her passion for writing through her blog, “Bird Barometer,” which she received the Wyoming Art Council’s Blanchan/Doubleday award for in 2015. After her work as a journalist, Marylee was an administrator and teacher at a local pre-school and served as Executive Director of the pARTner project, a school/community partnership to enhance art in classrooms. She is currently the director of the Old Wilson Community School. Marylee is married to Charlie Thomas and they have two grown children, Yara and Sawyer. “I am confident that Marylee will run a great campaign upon her return in early June”, said Nancy Carson, her friend and next door neighbor of many years. “She is a strong, thoughtful woman who will do great work representing Wyoming values in Cheyenne.” Marylee is particularly concerned about keeping public lands in public hands, and does not agree with the incumbent’s strident support for transferring public lands to the States. “Public lands are a part of Wyoming’s character and heritage,” said White. “Anyone who enjoys using the public lands in Wyoming, whether for hiking, camping, hunting, fishing, snowmobiling or anything else, should be concerned too.” *Feature Photo: Marylee White. h/t Marylee White / Pitchengine Communities* #buckrail #news
