Representative Petroff isn't seeking reelection in November

(Jackson, Wyo.) - Representative Ruth Ann Petroff announced this week that she will not be seeking reelection for the Wyoming House. “I love serving in the legislature. It is a privilege to be part of the culture practical governance and of civility in Wyoming,” said Petroff, who currently serves as chairman of the House Travel, Recreation, Wildlife and Cultural Resources committee and as chairman of the House Technology and Process committee. “Snake River Roasting Company is growing and I owe it to my customers and staff to guide us through this next stage of our company development,” stated Petroff as her reason for not seeking a fourth term in House District 16. “There are a lot of exciting breakthroughs in coffee and we intend to be leaders in the micro-roasting industry.” Petroff was the successful primary sponsor of sixteen bills during her time in the legislature. She has worked to push forward on the sale of state land parcels to Grand Teton National Park. This year, the Wyoming Youth Services Association honored Petroff with their “Legislator of the Year” award for her work on behalf of Group Homes and Residential Treatment Centers. “Some of my favorite legislation has been around issues small businesses or individuals bring, where perhaps a small change in the law has a significant impact on their situation. That’s the beauty of Wyoming and our citizen legislature. The people of the state have access to their government.” Some of these include allowing a 2nd alcohol dispensing room for restaurants, changing the definition of micro-brewer to give Wyoming companies room to grow, improving gift card laws for both businesses and consumers, and removing sales tax from all tips given to servers. District 16 covers most of the Town of Jackson, except the Gill Addition and Indian Trails. *Feature Photo: Ruth Ann Petroff. h/t Ruth Ann Petroff / Pitchengine Communities* #buckrail #news
