Community rallies to help Teton Pass crash victim

(Jackson, Wyo.) - On May 6, a head-on collision on Teton Pass left Jackson resident Juan Manuel Hernandez severely injured after he was trapped in his car. The firefighters successfully cut him out and he was transferred by helicopter to the East Medical Center Idaho in critical condition. Currently, he is at the hospital undergoing many surgeries to fix his broken ribs, arms and legs. "Juan is recovering thanks to God, his family and friends," said the Facebook event page . "Medical expenses are quite high, as you can imagine, and have been very difficult for the whole family." To help the family with the medical expenses, there will be a benefit at 5 p.m. tonight at the Elks Club at 270 W Broadway. "To my whole family this still seems like a nightmare that hopefully we can wake up to soon," said Victor Hernandez, Juan's son. "We have been residents of Jackson for about 20 years now and we love this community because of all the support there is. The whole reason we are here is because of my dad who wanted to give his five kids and his wife a better life." The benefit is at 5 p.m. tonight. It will cost $5 for kids, $15 for teens and $25 for adults. There will be music and dancing until 11:30 p.m. More information is available on the Facebook event page. *Feature Photo: Juan Hernandez. h/t Victor Hernandez / Pitchengine Communities* #buckrail #news
