Discussion on “Our Public Lands: Treasure and Legacy” tonight

(Jackson, Wyo.) - Tonight at 6 p.m., the Teton County Library is hosting the third in a series on public lands, called “Our Public Lands: Treasure and Legacy.” The series is an educational forum about the history, significance and conservation of federal public lands. Tonight, Wyoming conservationist Dan Smitherman will be featured in a presentation relevant to all those who love public lands and value wildlife and recreation access. The issue of land transfer from federal to state ownership will be the topic and will go beyond the headlines to examine the history of the land transfer movement, the forces influencing current proposals in the West, the legal background, and the current status of proposals to transfer federal public land in Wyoming. Smitherman noted that this presentation will occur the evening immediately following the Memorial Day weekend. “I encourage folks to spend the weekend enjoying your public lands and then join us Tuesday evening to hear about the federal public land transfer issue and what’s at stake for Wyoming,” said Smitherman. *Feature Photo: h/t Teton County Library / Pitchengine Communities* #buckrail #news #whatshappening
