Mobile Pantry rolls into Jackson to feed 400 families

(Jackson, Wyo.) - Next Monday from 3 - 7 p.m., the Wyoming Food Bank of the Rockies (WFBR) will hold a mobile pantry food distribution in at the Teton County Fairgrounds. The WFBR is planning to have enough food for 400 families. Items included will be: fresh fruits and vegetables, canned fruits and vegetables, protein (beef, fish) and other food/personal products from their distribution center. Director of the WFBR, Shanna Harris, stated this mobile pantry is in response to a community that has a high cost of living and high rates of food insecurity. She said due to an anticipated high demand they will be distributing food for three hours. The WFBR will be distributing approximately 20,000 pounds of food equivalent to 16,666 meals to Jackson families in need. . WFBR is the only Food Bank in Wyoming. They provide reliable access to sufficient food is an essential element in building strong and vibrant communities, stable family units, a well-educated work force and fosters independent living for the elderly. They are on track to distribute 9,000,000 pounds of food – 7,500,000 meals – throughout the state in FY 2016 in partnership with 254 pantries.
