'State of the Summer' is the new FREE Backcountry Safety Workshop Series

(Jackson, Wyo.) - Backcountry Zero and Headwall Sports will co-present “State of the Summer,” a new backcountry safety series. Teton County Search and Rescue Volunteers will be teaching all of the workshops, which will include time for Q&A at the end. Discussion topics will include a review of what essential items to carry in your pack or boat and how to address common injuries for each sport. *Complete Schedule* June 16 - Watersports: What’s in Your Boat and Basic First Aid for Watersports June 23 - Mountain Biking: What’s in Your Pack and Basic First Aid for Bikers June 30 - Hiking and Backpacking: What’s in Your Pack, Route-finding and Basic First Aid for Hikers July 7 - Climbing and Mountaineering: What’s in Your Pack and Basic First Aid for Climbers “We’re excited to partner with Headwall Sports and build upon the success of the “State of the Snowpack” series they launched this past winter,” said Amy Golightly, Associate Director of the Teton County Search and Rescue Foundation. “It’s incumbent upon all of us as backcountry users to make a habit of learning, practicing our backcountry skills and striving to reduce risk wherever we can. We hope people will join us at these free workshops and pick up a few new skills before heading into the backcountry this summer.” The 4-week series of sport-specific workshops will be on Thursday evenings from June 16 - July 7 from 7:00 - 8:30 p.m. All workshops will be held at Headwall Sports (located in the Kmart Plaza) and are free and open to the public. Hatch Taqueria will provide tacos and margaritas for attendees. Each event will feature a raffle to benefit Teton County Search & Rescue.
