New group hopes to help young Jacksonites kickstart their careers

(Jackson, Wyo.) - Tomorrow night, Young Professionals of the Tetons will re-launch their organization with an event at Smoking Iron BBQ at Hotel Jackson. "The purpose of this group is to bring together young professionals. There is no age limit who can attend. It is just a group to energize the young professionals to work together, and share ideas and experiences of living and working in Jackson," said Young Professionals of the Tetons Chairperson Will Smith. Young Professionals of the Tetons was started by Don Watkins, Nathan Adams and Courtney Gauthier in 2012. They were looking to start a networking group for a demographic that they felt was underrepresented. After their careers took off, they were unable to keep up with running the group. Recently, Workforce Specialist for the Wyoming Department of Workforce Services Will Smith decided to take over the organization. "I fall in that demographic [of young professionals] and I think it is important to have that resource available to community members," said Smith. Smith hopes to host events through Young Professionals of the Tetons on third Thursday of the month and hopes to launch a mentoring program. "We hope to provide resources to this group by mentoring programs and through networking events for those looking for their first full time professional job in Jackson and those looking to call this place home," Smith added. Tomorrow night, the group will host a Summer Social at the new Smoking Iron BBQ at Hotel Jackson. The event will be 5:30 - 7 p.m. It is open to the community and free for all to attend. #buckrail #news #whatshappening
