Fall Creek Road in BTNF to Close Tomorrow - Thursday

(Jackson, Wyo.) - The Jackson Ranger District of the Bridger-Teton National Forest will temporarily close a portion of the Fall Creek Road for road maintenance tomorrow, June 29, at 8 a.m. through Thursday, June 30, until 6:00 p.m. Fall Creek Road is located approximately 15-miles south of Jackson. The road closure will be approximately 3-miles from the junction of Fall Creek Road and south Highway 89. Road crews will be installing new culverts near the bridge on Fall Creek Road. "This area of the road has historically flooded and deteriorated under the standing water," said Jackson District Ranger Dale Deiter. "We are trying to take advantage of the fact that the road is presently dry and we have the culverts here and ready to go." Visitors to that portion of the Forest will be able to travel Fall Creek Road from either the Wilson end of the road or from the side where Fall Creek Road meets South Highway 89. "The closed area will just be at the culvert site near the bridge and there will be no through traffic for those two days," Deiter said. While the Forest Service is working on that section of the road, they will also clean gravel and debris out of the other culverts in the area. "Because we will have heavy equipment operating in that area we are asking that visitors use caution and allow the equipment operators some space to operate," Deiter said. "We know it is inconvenient and we certainly appreciate everyone's patience while we make these much needed repairs."
