Obituary: Marilyn Joyce Fries Clark

Marilyn Joyce Fries Clark, born May 14, 1924, passed away on Sunday, June 26, 2016, at the age of 92. Marilyn was most recently a resident of Jackson, Wyoming, but has previously lived in the states of New York, California, Utah, Oregon, MIssouri, Florida and New Mexico. Born in Ogden, Utah as the first child of Vera Louella Murdock Fries and Joseph Wesley Fries, the family relocated to Southern California where, years later, she met the love of her life, John Boynton Clark. She and John had five children, Cynthia Clark Griggs of Jackson, Jolene Clark Martin of Walnut Creek, California, John Victor Clark of Evanston, Wyoming, Richard Joseph Clark (deceased) of Jupiter, Florida and Steven Walter Clark (deceased) also of Jupiter, Florida. Marilyn is survived by her daughter Cynthia, her husband Kenneth Griggs and their children Rhett and his wife Lisa, Lisa and her husband Heath Robertson, and Stacey and her husband Michael Crichio. She is also by her daughter Jolene and husband Michael Francis Martin, and their children Michael-John and his wife Lisa, Corey and his wife Kassie and Ryan. Her son, John Victor, also mourns the loss of his mother. Marilyn is survived by 17 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She was affectionately called Nana, Bing, GG Bing, and Gram depending upon which grandchild/generation you asked. Marilyn enjoyed gardening and particularly cultivating herbs. She prepared and presented many classes on herbs and herb gardening. She was an avid reader and particularly enjoyed historical novels and historical fiction along with her study of the scriptures. A quiet memorial tribute was held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Friday, July 1, 2016. Close friends and family attended. Marilyn will be buried in Rough and Ready, California where she will join her husband and son Steven in the Boynton Family plot. There will be a graveside ceremony with immediate family. #buckrail #news #obits
