Yet another road closure: Avalanche in the Hoback

Update (9:15 p.m.): Hoback Canyon closed again all night. This time a big slide near Granite Creek. Brought down trees with it. WYDOT hoping to have it open after 8 a.m. Friday morning.

Update: WYDOT has opened Hoback Canyon as of 6:10 p.m.


WYDOT is reporting another slide in the Hoback Canyon has closed Highway 189/191 between Bondurant and Hoback Junction. The road may be closed for some time. All available machinery is currently out on other slide mitigation in the Snake River Canyon and Teton Pass.

There is currently only one way in to Jackson (from the north).

B-T Avalanche Center has posted an avalanche warning for most areas surrounding Jackson Hole. Status is currently at the max: EXTREME.
