Chaz on the Plaza ushers in fall with seasonal dishes and drinks
Executive chef Shawn Hartwig introduces more than 15 new dishes across breakfast, lunch, dinner and dessert menus
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (Sept. 24, 2019) – Chaz on the Plaza, the signature restaurant of the historic Raphael Hotel, unveils new, seasonal menu items just in time for fall. Created by executive chef Shawn Hartwig, the menus include more than 15 new dishes across breakfast, lunch, dinner and dessert, as well as subtle changes to some existing favorites. The cocktail menu also added five new fall creations.
Chef Hartwig specializes in contemporary American cuisine and uses modern techniques to elevate classic dishes. Utilizing local ingredients and seasonal produce, the new menu items highlight Hartwig’s cooking style and feature his own take on American favorites.
The breakfast and brunch menus adds multiple new menu items, including the unique Norwegian Benedict, made with an english muffin, soft poached eggs, Boursin cheese, spinach, avocado, hollandaise, cold smoked salmon and a Chaz potato cake. Other new items include The Local, Peach and Mint Mule, The Energizer Bunny and The Refresher.
For lunch, Executive Chef Hartwig put his own twist on a classic burger. The Fritz Burger features a grilled 8 oz. dry-aged beef burger, Raclette cheese, organic American cheese, lettuce, bone marrow butter, black garlic aioli and a toasted egg bun. Additional new items include the Apple Manchego Salad, Normandy Ham and Cheese, and The Raphael Salad.
Executive Chef Hartwig shows off his modern techniques combined with maximum flavor in his new dinner dishes. The Lobster 'De Luxe' is a dish found nowhere else in the Country Club Plaza area, featuring tarragon-crusted 6 oz. Maine Lobster Thermidor, and fresh linguine tossed with lobster, saffron, and uni cream, kale, garlic, peas, pearl onions and finished with black truffle, 18-year aged balsamic vinegar di Modena and parmesan. Kobe Beef Pot Roast, Butternut Scallops and Bacon-Wrapped Dates round out the new dinner items.
The dessert menu received a full rehaul for fall, calling out classic fall flavors in creative new dishes. Guests can now enjoy options like the Chocolate Pecan Tart, Pumpkin Pie Bread Pudding, Brenda’s Chocolate Bundt Cake, Brown Butter Caramel Apple Cheesecake, Honey Lavender Scented Flan and Strawberry and Passion Fruit Sorbet.
To round out the fall menu updates, Chaz on the Plaza’s bar program added five fall drinks to compliment its classic options. Chantilly Lace, Fall Forward, Late Edition, Sangria and Hand Warmer are now available.
