Wyoming Honors Lander Chamber Ambassadors: Community Hero Award

Wyoming Honors Lander Chamber Ambassadors: Community Hero Award

You may know them for their philanthropic brawn, stylishly cut blue blazers, stiff pours of wine, and disarming smiles; many also know them as our warm and modest community champions. Whilst ever-reluctant to blast their own horns, we are proud to share the Lander Chamber Ambassadors are recipients of a prestigious Community Hero Award from the Wyoming Association of Municipalities. Qu’est que c’est? WAM asked municipalities throughout Wyoming for nominations for individuals, groups, and organizations whose contributions enhance strong communities. The City of Lander nominated the Lander Ambassadors for many outstanding reasons, including its remarkable 35-year collective legacy of service. The Lander Art Center, Children’s Museum, the original community center (tragically lost in a fire in 2012), and the city-gateway bronze sculpture “Round Up” represent a select few community programs impacted by Lander Ambassadors. Most Ambassadors spend several hours a month volunteering for and personally investing in major events (ISPSSSDR, Cycle Greater Yellowstone, Business After Hours) and independently serve as community leaders. “The Ambassadors are a pretty humble group really…. We frequently volunteer to help at local events and ask for no recognition. We are just proud to be residents of Lander and help when we can to make our community a better place.” [Author note: this is the fifth ambassador who asked to be quoted anonymously. The sentiment of service and dedication is shared unanimously throughout the group.] Over the years, the volunteer efforts of the Ambassadors have raised over $300,000 to benefit local organizations. Most recently, at the biennial Ambassador Extravaganza, the group raised a ceiling-shattering $48,000 to complete the Lander Convention and Community Center (in addition to their participation for $50,000 donated over two years by the Lander Chamber.) A few of these sometimes-publicly-shy, yet ever-valiant souls will travel to Cheyenne on June 12th to accept the Community Hero Award at the WAM Convention’s President’s Banquet. Until then, keep an eye out for a tucked-in cape, blue blazer, and a true Lander smile. #county10 #landerchamber #sponsored #business
