Riverton's Ice Skating Rink appears headed to the floor of Tonkin Stadium

Riverton Schools Superintendent Terry Snyder reported Tuesday night that the school district is in negotiation with the R Recreation program to move this winter's ice skating rink to Tonkin Stadium. School Board Member Glegg Ogg said the District #25 Recreation Board was approached by R Recreation's Mary Axthelm with the idea, and that the Rec Board agreed to support the proposal with some funding. "It all came back, a little slowly, but it didn't damage the grass," he said. "Tonkin Stadium's floor is flat, and it will allow R Recreation to put up their entire ice rink, only part of it was put up last winter because of the slope of the baseball field" Snyder said the district and R Recreation are looking over their respective insurance policies to make sure the district is covered before a final decision is made.
