Willow Creek Elementary Construction on target; Building could be closed in by December

The construction of the new Willow Creek Elementary School in Riverton "is on schedule" the District's owner's representative reported to the school board this week. "We've made amazing progress and it's beginning to look like a building," said Todd McCowin. "Right now we're setting the front entry trusses, which will allow plenty of sunlight to come into the entry," he said. "We poured the gym floor on Monday, which was a big milestone, and now the big steel girder trusses and the steel decking can go on." McCowin said interior wall framing is now in progress, and he pointed out a "giant" sky light in the middle of the structure that would allow natural light inside. We want to get it dried in by the end of the month so we can begin working inside the building," he said. He pointed out during a PowerPoint presentation that a silver reflective liner was being installed between the steel deck and the insulation with the membrane on top of the insulation. "That really helps the energy efficiency of the building, keeping hot weather out during the summer and warm temperatures inside the structure during the winter." McCowin said the contractor and the subs hope the good weather continues to keep the project on track. The General Contractor for the school is Mid Valley Construction of Riverton. The building is schedule to be opened late summer of 2016 for the start of the new school year. #county10
