Obituary: Elsie Oetken

Elsie Oetken, 83, formally of Riverton, died on Saturday, November 7, 2015, in Queen Creek, AZ. A memorial service will be held on Friday, November 20, 2015, at 2:00 pm at Davis Funeral Home with Pastor Mike Allen officiating. Inurnment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery. [image: Inline image 1] Elsie Marie Morrow was born on January 5, 1932 in Silver City, SD to Douglas Allen and Mary Trula (Hill) Morrow. She was one of six children and attended grade school in Silver City, SD before the family moved to Crawford, NE where she graduated high school. She was of the Baptist faith and studied the bible and helped others understand it and prayed for others. She moved to Riverton in 1940 and worked as a merchandiser for Woolsworth. She later worked at BiRite Drug Store as a clerk. Elsie remained in Riverton for 60 years, until she moved to Queen Creek, Arizona. She spent the last 5 years of her life in Arizona. On April 14, 1950 she married George Allen Oetken in Riverton at the Lutheran Church. Together they raised their four children in Riverton. Elsie enjoyed crocheting potholders and pot scrubbers. She also loved baking cookies and cinnamon rolls for her family. Elsie helped at the senior center and enjoyed going to garage sales and visiting with her friends.. Survivors include her sons, Fred Oetken and his wife Linda of Sheridan, WY, Steve Oetken and his wife, Dorinda of Queen Creek, AZ; daughters, Gloria Oetken of Lander, WY and Hannah Chadron of Sheridan, WY; brother, Marvin Morrow and his wife, Linda of Texas; sisters, Hazel Carter of Charlestown, NH, Jan Erhart and her husband, Tom and sister-in-law, Bea Morrow all of Riverton; 8 grandchildren, Michael and his wife, Sharen Oetken, Heather Oetken, Reese and his wife Erin Oetken, Shawn Oetken, Shelbi Oetken Salakaia and her husband, Steven, Ryan Poston, Keith Poston and his wife, Aubree, Dione Poston Johnson and her fiancé, Andy; great grandchildren, Railey, Gage, Kaylee, Emma, Becca, Brett, Kaeli, Hunter, Kara, Aiden, Eli, Peyton and Dylan. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, George Oetken; and brothers, Robert and Fred Morrow. #county10 #news #obits
