Rustler basketball split games Friday, Women were victorious, Men lost a close one

*Lady Rustlers win at Scottsbluff* The CWC woman earned a five point, 56-51 victory over Colby Community College, Kansas, in a game at Scottsbluff, Nebr. “We played much better offensively today,” said Coach Serol Stauffenberg. “Our defense continues to be solid. We took four charges. We improved on the defensive boards.” Leading the Lady Rustlers was Jessie Underberg who scored 29 points to lead all scorers while Loveeda White added 10. Kyla Paulus was the leading rebounder with 10. Central trailed at half-time 35-34 but gained the upper hand in the second half. The Rustlers were 7 of 17 from the three point range for 41 percent while hitting only 18 of 55 shots from the field for 33 percent. The Rustlers hit 13 of 17 free throws for a game high 77 percent. Olivia Thompson fouled out of the game with only three points. The Central Women resume play today against the host Western Nebraka. *Central men lose a close one in Utah* The Central Wyoming College Men’s Basketball Team fell by three points to host Snow College of Utah on Friday, 74-71. The Rustlers’ had two players in double figures, Justice Augman with 24 and Brannon Cresanto with 15. Central never led in the contest and fell behind by as much as 16 points in the contest, but hit 50 percent of their shots in the second half to close the gap near the end of the game. Snow College, however, maintained a blistering pace from the floor hitting on 51 percent of their shots for the entire game, keeping the Rustlers at bay. Travonta Maddox and Devon Brown each fouled out of the game for CWC. One bright spot for the Rustlers was hitting 76 percent of their free throws, 16 of 21. CWC continues their Utah swing with a game against Utah State University-College of Eastern Utah today. #county10 #news #sports
