Salvation Army kicks off kettle season

(Lander, Wyo.) – It’s a sound of the season, the ring of the Salvation Army’s red kettle bell. The tradition of the red kettle is nearly as old as the Salvation Army itself, going back more than 100 years. Volunteers from Lander's service clubs, Mayor Del McOmie and Rep. Lloyd Larsen kicked off the annual kettle fundraiser yesterday. Of every dollar given, 90 percent stays right here in Lander, supporting families in the community. The Salvation Army provides assistance to the needy in our community through the First Stop Help Center, located at Trinity Episcopal Church. Volunteers are still needed to work hour-long shifts for the weekends between now and Christmas. Call the First Stop Help Center at 332-2877 to sign up. #county10 #news
