Lander Chamber releases complete list of Small Business Saturday specials

(Lander, Wyo.) - A few weeks ago, numbers came out of Cheyenne regarding Wyoming’s statewide economic outlook and recommendations for upcoming budgets. The narrative remains gloomy in reaction to energy prices, specifically oil and gas. As statewide budgets decrease, mineral royalties to small towns and cities also decrease. At the local level, businesses are experiencing a hit to their sales of goods and services; one of the main indicators of economic health. In response, the City of Lander is taking proactive measures to manage expenses, while at the Chamber we are inducing a shop local movement to revitalize the economy. Looking ahead, the economic outlook of minerals will remain unknown as various analysis attempt to pinpoint its rebound. If you are like most citizens, you might be feeling a little tense, and with good reason. However, there remains one element of control within our economy—how we choose to spend our money. Each hard-earned dollar we create as the workforce becomes an investment tool in our local Lander area economy. Hands down—shopping local is the best way every person can support the Lander area. Not only do dollars spent locally cycle seven or more times through our economy (e.g. professional services, charitable and nonprofit organizations, etc.), but these dollars also feed our local governments through sales tax collection. If you want strong schools, medical facilities, roads and pathways, police and other emergency services, then spend your money in the Lander area. With the goal of encouraging our community to shop local, the Lander Chamber of Commerce brings you the Small Business Saturday shopping specials from our local merchants. Stop by the Chamber office to pick up the shopping guide and receive a free Shop Small bag! We hope you have a happy Thanksgiving and show your appreciation by spending local!
