Shawna Filman

Shawna Filman died November 26, 2015 at the University of Colorado Hospital with her family at her side, following a lengthy illness. She was 44 years old. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at the Chapel of Mount Hope at the Hudson's Funeral Home on December 5, 2015 at 1:00 PM, with pastor Wayne King presiding. A gathering of remembrance will follow at the Lander Rural Fire station 2 in Milford. Shawna Dawn Garner was born on February 19, 1971 in Pawhuska, Oklahoma to Sean and Sharon Garner. Her family moved to Lander in 1978. She graduated from the Lander Valley High School in 1989. In 1990 she married Richard “Rick” Filman, who had been her high school sweetheart. They had three sons, Joshua, Thomas and Austin. Shawna worked as a homemaker, retail sales and child daycare. Her family was the most special thing in her life. She enjoyed camping, fishing and any activities that involved her family. In 2009 she began a long battle of illness that she courageously fought until she was not able to fight any longer. During that time she was absolutely selfless for her own ailments and would only continue to show love and care for her family and others. Even at times that she was in chronic pain, she would manage to muster up a smile and show love to others. Through all of this she was truly an inspiration to her family and many others around her. She will be greatly missed. Shawna is survived by her husband Rick, sons Joshua (Nancy) Filman, Thomas Filman, Austin Filman, all of Lander; brother Jeff Garner of Hudson; Grandson Wyatt Filman; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents.
