City Council to welcome new RPD Officer tonight; Rezoning Request sought for Tractor Supply Store

A rezoning request will be discussed by the Riverton City Council tonight that would allow construction of a Tractor Supply Company retail store in the 3400 block of West Main. The current zoning of the 3.91 acre lot is residential B-GA and the request is to change the zoning to Commercial District C-H. Five adjacent landowners have protested the zoning change, but the city's planning commission unanimously approved the change after a public hearing on Nov. 19th. Other agenda items includ the introduction of a new Riverton Police Officer, renewal of the lease agreement with the PAWS Animal Shelter, a bid award for a new "wide area" mower for the Parks Department and replacement of the water treatment plant's Motor Control Center. The council's Finance Committee will meet at 6:45 p.m. and the regular council meeting will convene at 7 p.m. at Riverton City Hall's Council Chambers. *Feature Photo: The Riverton City Council at a recent meeting at which Councilor Mike Bailey was absent.
