A Riverton woman has been named the National Reining Horse Futurity's Rookie of the Year and was the winner of the Rookie Level 2 Championships. *Holly Valerio *rode to victory on her six-year-old quarter horse gelding, Soula Dualla at the Futurity's national competition in Oklahoma City on Monday. “It’s amazing! Glory to God, He helped me through the whole time! My horse once again proved that he’s so consistent and so willing!” said Holly after the scores were posted. "Consistent and willing is truly what the 6-year-old gelding proved to be. In the second day of competition, at the Adequan North American Affiliate Championships, the pair scored a 212 and tied for the co-championship in the Limited Non Pro. The duo went on to win the Novice Horse Non Pro Level 2 Championship with a 213.5 and finally took both titles on Monday as the Championships went into the fifth day of competition. This time with a 215," according to the NRHA in a news release. For earning the victory, Valerio took home a Custom Saddle, a Montana Silversmiths Custom Trophy Buckle, a pair of Rios of Mercedes Boots, an embroidered halter, a blanket and other gift items.
