Fort Washakie students compete in meth art contest

Two students from Fort Washakie High School have taken home a tie for 6th place in the statewide Wyoming Meth Project Art Contest. Britanni Soonup and Yellowflower Shoyo took it upon themselves to do a photograph for extra credit to submit to the Wyoming Meth Project Art Contest. These two students brainstormed after looking at inspiration from They came up with the idea to take photos of younger family members to make a point how meth can hurt a family. They took time after school to take lots of photos. After a few days of shooting they spent class time to pick the photo they wanted to work with. They went to the Shoshone Language teacher, Arlen Shoyo who helped them translate their thoughts in English about meth into Shoshone. The girls then spent days working with Shawn Ware on editing and graphics. "As their art teacher I am really proud of the way they stepped up and worked hard on this project," said Leah Maltbie. h/t Leah Maltbie / Pitchengine Communities #county10 #news
