Jury convicts King on 3 of 5 charges

A 12-person jury this evening declared 27-year-old Justin Tanner King guilty of three out of five crimes related to an incident earlier this year. The jury found King guilty of Felonious Restraint, Strangulation of a Household Member and Battery. He was found not guilty of Aggravated Assault and Theft. The trial began on Monday. It was turned over to the jury this afternoon, and a verdict was returned after about three hours of deliberation. The restraint and strangulation charges are both felonies, punishable by up to five years in prison each. A formal sentencing hearing will be held at a later date. During the investigation the victim told investigators that King strangled her with his hands almost to the point of unconsciousness more than once before forcing her under threat of violence to drive him from Riverton to Lander. This was the second trial in the case; the first resulted in a mistrial . #county10 #news
