Second Riverton Federal Building broken into this week, burglarized

The United States Department of Agriculture building in the 500 block of North Federal was burglarized Monday night and a substantial amount of equipment was taken. According to a Riverton Police report, a side window on the south side of the building that was screened by a large tree was entered. Taken was: • $600 Garman Montana GPS unit • $150 GPS Mapping unit • Three Nikon Cool Pix cameras valued at $200 each • One Canon SX40 camer valued at $300 • One Kodak Easy Share camera valued at $50 • A $150 value Delorm GPS unit • A $73 vlued Peco hand level magnification tool, • $493 wroth of scales, compasses, tapes, and miscellaneous Range Monitoring Supplies that was inside a backpack. • Various vehicle keys • A briefcase valued at $50. Total loss estimated at $2,466 not counting repairs to the building "The offices were pretty much ransacked," RPD Captain Eric Murphy said. "The tree branches hide the window that the thief or thieves entered. The case is under active investigation. There are no suspects at this point. On Sunday night, the Riverton Post Office was broken into, but the alleged thief in that case was caught at the scene with three money boxes from the customer service cash registers. *Feature Image: The USDA Building at 500 North Broadway.
