Forest travel planning meeting draws small crowd, happening until 7

The Shoshone National Forest is currently holding a public meeting relating to motorized travel proposals for the Washakie Ranger District. Currently about 15 members of the public are in attendance at the Lander Community and Convention Center. Twenty-four specific proposals were made by the public. Take a look at the local proposals, in addition to ones from other part of the forest, here: These are not proposed actions by the forest at this time. There is no desire from the forest to change its nature as a backcountry forest like it is now. The end result will be a full defining of the motorized trail system. Next round of public comment will be in February related to winter motorized proposals. Multiple related meetings and workshops will be planned throughout the next couple years. The final record of decision won't come until Spring 2018. #county10 #news
