City of Lander's audit result "very good overall" with few deficiencies noted

The Lander City Council Tuesday night received "a very good overall rating" in the annual audit of the city's books for the last fiscal year. CPA Tim Fixter of McKee Marburger Fagnant PC reported that due to changes in audit requirements, the city's report had grown from 250 work papers in 2005 to 421 this past year. City Clerk Robin Griffin said Fixter reported that the City has been consistent in revenues and had cut expenses. Fixter called the city's audit unmodified without any noncompliance in the reporting of financial statements. Fixter, however, did report some material weaknesses were identified in the financial statements with recommended fixes. He said several of the weaknesses were also noted in the city's prior audit report. The city's Federal program books received an unmodified audit report with Fixter noting that the city had complied, in all material respects, with the requirements of those programs. The audit report indicated the city had overstated its revenue by recording amounts as revenue instead of notes payable, a condition that will be corrected in the coming year. Other noted deficiencies had already been corrected by the time the final audit was released. *Feature Photo: Lander City Hall. (Pitchengine Communities) * #county10 #news
