The Riverton Police Department has hired Jane Juve to fill the position of Community Relations Ombudsman, a news release said today. The Ombudsman will perform a variety of assignments that include accepting and investigating complaints of Civil Rights violations, and will look into complaints of bias based on ethnicity, race, national origin, gender, or sexual identity. The Ombudsman will also work to educate citizens on the legal issues related to bias and prejudice. "The RPD is excited to have Ms. Juve join our team, Chief Mike Broadhead said in a statement released Thursday morning." " She is a graduate of the University of Wyoming College of Law, and is a member of the Wyoming Bar. Currently in private practice, Ms. Juve has previous experience as a prosecutor, hearing examiner, and legislative counsel. She was recently appointed by the Wyoming State Bar to its "Diversity and Inclusion Committee." The purpose of this committee is to promote diversity in the legal profession and to facilitate equal access to the justice system by persons of diverse backgrounds." Juve will be a part-time employee at 20 hours per week. She will start at the Department by February 1st.
