Then there was only one. The Wyoming Indian Chiefs captured the team title at the Big Horn Basin Basketball Classic this past weekend in Lovell, defeating defending state 3A champion Buffalo in the finals 54-48. With the Chiefs' win over Wind River Saturday morning and Shoshoni's loss to Pine Bluffs that day, Wyoming Indian is now Class 2A's only undefeated team. The Chiefs defeated previously unbeaten and defending state champion Wind River 64-50 Saturday morning. The Cougars finished the tournament with two wins and the one loss, having defeated Ten Sleep 79 to 30 on Friday morning and Greybull 54-48 Friday night. The Chiefs opened the tournament with a win over Riverside. Wyoming Indian's win Friday night resulted in a sweep of its season series with Lander Valley, beating the Tigers 70-60. The Chiefs earlier downed the Tigers 78-75 in the Lander tournament in December. The Lady Chiefs went 2-1 at the girls tournament in Cowley, defeating Glenrock, losing to class 3A Powell and then defeating cross-county rival and Lander Valley, bringing the season series between the two county teams to 1-1. The Lander Boys and Girls both went 1-2 in the tournament. The boys opened with a win over Glenrock, then lost to Wyoming Indian and Greybull. The Lady Tigers opened with a win over Riverside, then lost to Worland and Wyoming Indian. Wind River's Lady Cougars went 0-3 at the tournament, losing to Thermopolis, Glenrock and Wright.
