Formal Firefighters Funeral today in Pavillion for Speed Hartbank; Parking will be limited, Shuttle service available

Funeral services for Deputy Chief Clarence “Speed” Hartbank will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, January 23 at the Wind River School in Pavillion. Hartbank served with the Fremont County Fire Protection District for 45 years and was injured while fighting a grass and structure fire September 10. Hartbank died of his injuries January 13. Full fire department and military honors will be conducted at the funeral services. A large turnout of fire apparatus, firefighters, honor guards, family and friends is expected. Because of this, parking at the high school will be an issue. Much of the parking at the high school will be taken up by emergency vehicles. Parking on East Pavillion Road may also be limited due to overflow parking from emergency vehicles. Those planning to attend the funeral are encouraged to carpool as much as possible. There will be limited parking on the east side of the high school parking lot for those with mobility issues. Parking will also be available at the rodeo grounds in Pavillion and throughout the town of Pavillion. Two shuttle buses will also be available to transport mourners from their vehicles to the high school. There will be volunteers on scene to help with parking issues. “We ask for patience and understanding from mourners and Pavillion residents who may find vehicles parked in front of their residences,” said Anne Metzler, acting public information officer for the Fremont County Fire Protection District. Fire apparatus from around the state and region will gather at the Morton-Kinnear Fire Hall before the funeral and will follow Speed's command vehicle seven miles to the funeral site. Expect traffic delays on Highway 26 and Highway 133. #county10 #springcity #news
