Alcohol, speeding being investigated in weekend fatal crash; Charges are being reviewed

The Fremont County Sheriffs Office is investigating a fatal collision that occurred on Arroyo Lane west of Riverton late Friday night. Deputies were called to the area around 9:00PM for a reported one vehicle roll over with three occupants involved. Upon arrival a 38-year-old female was found deceased. Another adult female occupant who received non-life threatening injuries remained on scene, while the alleged adult male driver fled the area on foot. Deputies located the alleged driver at an address on Arroyo Lane; he was subsequently transported by ground ambulance to Sage West Riverton due to critical injuries. The case remains under investigation as of Monday morning while the alleged driver remains hospitalized at Sagewest Lander. At this time the investigation has revealed alcohol consumption may have been a contributing factor leading up to the collision. As the investigation proceeds, details will be provided to the County Attorney for further review and possible criminal charges. "At this point it appears the involved vehicle was traveling at excessive speeds when it veered off the roadway and rolled at least once before coming to rest in a steep drainage. During the rollover the female occupant was ejected and died of her injuries on scene." The Wyoming Highway Patrol is assisting with the crash investigation. Further details will be forthcoming as the combined investigation proceeds. #county10 #news
