Riverton man charged in late-night knife attack

A 22-year-old Riverton man has been charged with Aggravated Assault and Battery after allegedly attacking a woman with a knife late Tuesday night. According to Fremont County Undersheriff Ryan Lee, deputies were called to 1575 East Monroe Avenue in Riverton just before midnight. The woman who called it in was also the alleged victim, and she told deputies that she had been attacked with a knife. Upon arrival, deputies located the 34-year-old victim who had lacerations to both of her hands consistent with being attacked by a sharp object. She reported that she was standing in the street engaged in a verbal argument with Ezeekiel Osterkorn when he allegedly brandished a folding knife and began to "swing it around and thrash it at her" while physically attacking her. Osterkorn was located in a nearby residence and reportedly admitted to the incident, indicating he was afraid that the victim was going to hit him, so he took action. Osterkorn was arrested for the aggravated assault, alleging that he knowingly caused bodily injury to another with a deadly weapon. The victim required transport to the hospital for treatment of her injuries. #county10 #news
