Driver in Friday night crash charged with Aggravated Vehicular Homicide

The Fremont County Sheriffs Office has arrested 21-year-old Shawn Pendleton of Riverton pursuant to an arrest warrant issued early Wednesday morning, according to Undersheriff Ryan Lee. In a statement released this morning, Ryan said that Pendleton is the alleged driver of a 2002 Ford Truck that was involved in a single vehicle rollover on Arroyo Lane west of Riverton the night of January 29, 2016. During the rollover a 38-year-old Riverton woman, Dana Jean Trujillo, was ejected and died at the scene. One other passenger received minor injuries. Pendleton is charged with two counts of Aggravated Vehicular Homicide in connection with the rollover; one count alleges he was intoxicated, while the other count alleges he acted in a reckless manner. "Our investigation to this point was filed with the County Prosecutor's Office early Tuesday morning; as a result an affidavit was filed and the court issued the warrant," Lee said. "Pendleton had been hospitalized as a result of the collision, he was medically cleared and released Wednesday afternoon at which point he was taken into custody at Sagewest Lander and jailed." Shortly after the crash, it was reported the Pendleton fled the scene and was found at a nearby residence. The case remains under investigation by the Sheriff and Wyoming Highway Patrol. #county10 #news
