Today's Ethete fire was the site of a 2014 murder

The trailer home that was completely destroyed in a fire early this afternoon was the site of a murder back in June 2014. Multiple sources have confirmed to County 10 that the trailer was where Jared Littlewhiteman was murdered. Susan Chippewa, Byron Spoonhunter and James Whiteplume have all been convicted for killing Littlewhiteman, who was reportedly bound and stabbed more than 40 times in connection to a dispute over drugs and money at the trailer that burned today on the 400 block of Ethete Road. His body was later moved to another location and buried. He was considered missing for months before his remains were discovered. Read more background on the case here . What, if any, connection between the fire and the murder is unknown. Fremont County Fire's Dan Oakley said the trailer was abandoned and unoccupied when the fire broke out. There was no electricity and no gas service to the structure, so he said the fire was likely human caused. Whether that means it was purposely set on fire, or if a transients had left behind a heat source that caught fire, remains to be seen. However, Oakley said that due to the lack of ownership and insurance there likely will not be a formal investigation. Firefighters from Fort Washakie, Lander Rural, Morton/Kinnear and Battalion 1 were all paged to the fire. No firefighters were injured, and they successfully kept the blaze from spreading to an adjacent trailer home. *Photo of the fire before emergency crews arrived h/t Dominic Alcaraz* #county10 #news
