Strong Gusts Forecast; Dangerous crosswinds expected along highways

Strong winds are forecast for the Wind River Basin today with Northwest winds increasing to 20 to 30 mph with gusts near 50 mph between Dubois and Crowheart by this afternoon. The National Weather Service Forecast Office at Riverton Regional Airport said the winds are expected to push down into the Riverton area with a cold front passage early this evening through overnight. The NWS said the frontal passage may create hazardous crosswinds, especially on Highway 26 west of Riverton and on Highway 287 between Fort Washakie and Dubois. Winds are expected to diminish after 8 a.m. Sunday [image: Inline image 1] *Feature Photo: Cirrus Clouds showing wind shear aloft.
