Firewatch: Video game thriller released today is set in Yellowstone

(Wyoming) - Ever wondered what it's like to live and work in Yellowstone National Park? Firewatch , a brand new video game set to be released today, Feb. 9 gives you that very opportunity. The game is set in Yellowstone National Park and your mission is to spot wildfires before they get out of control. You're given a map, compass, and a walkie-talkie to explore and navigate through YNP. Gradually, the vastness of the park takes over, problems arise and the game turns into a mystery thriller of survival. According to Owen Williams with the who recently wrote an article on the game, the setting in the game is beautifully reproduced. "It feels like you’re there, like you really are Henry. The graphics are almost from a cartoon world, colorful, over-saturated and inviting, which adds to the realism of the story." Williams adds, "I was absolutely sucked in by the storytelling; Firewatch feels like it’s inherently human. The game’s plot happens in the real world, to a person just like us. It could be anyone, even you."
