State's water supply in the mountains holding steady

(Casper, Wyo.) - The state snowpack held steady this past week at 90 percent of the median with gains in nine of the state's water basins and drops in 10 others. For the Wind River Basin, the drop was only one point from 79 to 78 percent of the snow water equivalent median, while the Sweetwater River Basin gained two points to 68 percent and the Big Horn Basin gained five points to 77 percent. "We are staying at 90% for the state with a little gain in the north and a loss in the south. Last year we were at 94%, in 2014 131%, and in 2013 85% of median. It is snowing in the north right now so perhaps we can achieve a little more gain there," said Water Supply Specialist Lee Hackleman of the Natural Resources Conservation Service in his weekly email.
