Winds will continue today; Gusts reached over 100 mph on Thursday

(Riverton, Wyo.) - While the peak wind gust near Clark, north of Cody, reached 103 mph on Thursday, the most powerful blast of wind in the Wind River Country occurred in the Southeast near Muddy Gap at 69 mph. The peak winds were reported by the National Weather Service Forecast Office at Riverton Regional Airport. The peak gust in Thermopolis reached 57 mph while above town on Boysen Peak the winds topped out at 74 mph. At other locations, a 64 mph gust was measured in Red Canyon south of Lander, there was a 60 mph peak gust recorded at Fort Washakie, a 59 mph gust was recorded northwest of Lander and on Beaver Rim and the winds reached 57 mph at Jeffrey City. Hunt Field at Lander recorded a 53 mph gust and at the Dubois Airport, a 52 mph gust was noted.
