(Pitchengine Communities)* (Casper, Wyo.) - The Wind River Cougars, Wyoming Indian Lady Chiefs, and the St. Stevens Boys and Girls all advanced to the state semi-finals at the Wyoming High School State Class 1A-2A state tournament in Casper with impressive wins Thursday. The Wyoming Indian Boys, however, missing their two top scorers who were suspended this week, fell to the Big Horn Rams in the first round 53-43. Meanwhile, at the Class 4-A District Tournament, also in Casper, the Riverton Wolverines Boys punched their ticket to the Class 4A state tournament next week with a solid 58-52 win over Casper Natrona on its home court Thursday in a winner-in game. The Wolverines will now play top-seeded Rock Springs at 8:30 p.m. Friday at NCHS. At Afton, the Lander Valley Tigers defeated Pinedale 63-53 but the Lady Tigers lost by eight to Mountain View. The Tigers will play the winner of Star Valley and Powell at 8:30 p.m. while the Lady Tigers have a 9 a.m. date with Jackson Hole. At State, the Lady Chiefs dispatched Burns 59-44, the Wind River Cougars topped Tongue River 74-54, the Lady Eagles defeated Rock River 61-42 and the Eagles squeaked by Lingle-Fort Laramie 57-53. On Friday, The Chiefs play Tongue River at noon at the Events Center, the Lady Eagles play Little Snake River at 4:30 at Casper College, the Lady Chiefs play Southeast at 4:30 at the Events Center and the Wind River Boys play Big Horn at 7:30 at the Events Center.
