It was a million dollar snowfall

*The heaviest snowfall in Riverton occurred Monday morning with big wet flakes of the white stuff, melting as they hit the ground. The moisture was widespread throughout the Wind River Basin and the northwest and northcentral mountains. (Pitchengine Communities) * (Riverton, Wyo.) - Preliminary snowfall totals from the Sunday night through Monday evening storm are reported below. The moisture-laden storm was a blessing to the agricultural community, at least to those farmers who already have their crops in the ground, as the wet snow will help raise ground moisture levels. The National Weather Service Forecast Office at Riverton Regional Airport said the rain that fell on Sunday evening quickly turned to wet heavy snow across much of the Wind River Basin and Natrona County. The moisture tapered off by late Monday. Snow depths, according to the NWS, ranged from only a dusting to around two inches as the snow quickly melted when hitting the ground. The moisture content of the snow was high. Riverton set a daily precip record yesterday of 0.41 inches (0.04 last set in 2014), and snow of 1.9 inches (0.5 last set in 2012). Snowfall in Lander was measured between two and three inches. More snow was recorded in the mountains. The Owl Creek Mountains snotel site West of Thermopolis recorded five inches of snowfall.
