The Riverton schools reconfiguration recommendation has been made:

(Riverton, Wyo.) - Tonight is decision night for the reconfiguration of Riverton's Elementary Schools. The Administration of Fremont County School District 25 is recommending a K-5 configuration with a Kindergarten Center at Aspen Park School combined with an Early Learning Center. Under the recommendation, Jackson, Ashgrove and the new Willow Creek elementary's will house grades 1-3 and Rendezvous will return to a grade 4-5 building. The district trustees last month voted to move forward with the Kindergarten Boost and Early Learning Center program development, but the decision on where the programs would be housed was put off until tonight's meeting. The new reconfiguration has been in the works for some five years, along with curriculum re-alignment and development with the ultimate goal to increase high school graduation and to reduce the district's drop-out rate. Having all Kindergarten students in one location combined with an Early Learning Center and Kinder-boost program is a piece of that puzzle. In other action items at tonight's meeting: • A $37,000 grant from the District's Recreation Board is up for acceptance, • An out-of-state travel request for the DECA program to attend a national conference will be considered, • The low bid for the telephone system at the new Willow Creek School to Traveling Computers for $23,650 is up for approval, and, • The school board will be asked to approve purchase of a new 75 passenger school bus for $123,990 The meeting is at 7 p.m. at the district's central office on North 5th West next to the Tonkin Activity Center and the Frontier Academy.
