Throwback Tuesday: Before Riverton was a town, there was Shoshoni

(Shoshoni, Wyo.) - From the time before Riverton, Shoshoni was a rip-roaring town on a rail line. Thanks the photo collection at the Riverton Museum, here's an image showing the Shoshoni Main Street prior to Riverton townsite opening. E.T. Glenn's ice cream stand is on left. People on a sidewalk are pictured in the distance. At the end of the street is the Shoshoni railroad depot. The inscription on reverse side of the photo: "1906, Shoshoni, probably July, Lady is Howdo Glenn, wearing a long black taffeta skirt; Stand was theirs [Glenn's], selling ice cream and the dinner post." *Feature Photo: Riverton Museum archives / Pitchengine Communities* #county10 #springcity #news
