Dispatch: Violent attack results in arrest; Minors caught drinking

Here is the weekend's recap of law enforcement activity around the county. All persons arrested or cited are presumed innocent until convicted in a court of law. *Riverton Police Department* *Arrests:* *Weldon Blackburn*, 38, St. Stephen's, Failure to Appear. *Angeline Vargas*, 41, Riverton, felony Driving Under the Influence and two counts of Child Endangerment. Vargas was arrested at 8:15 p.m. on Friday. She was allegedly driving while intoxicated and had her two young children in the vehicle. The DUI is a felony because, if convicted, this would be her fourth in 10 years. *Benjamin Ridgley*, 60, Ethete, Warrant. *Cody Limberhand*, 21, Billings, Mont., Strangulation of a Household Member and Interference with an emergency phone call. At 1:38 a.m. on Saturday, police were were called by a woman who said she had been beaten up. Officers met her a couple blocks from the scene and discovered she had severe facial injuries. Reportedly a fight broke out between the two, and Limberhand allegedly punched her repeatedly and strangled her; the victim said she lost consciousness at one point. During the fight, he allegedly broke her phone to keep her from calling 911. Ultimately, she had to be life-flighted to Denver for a cracked facial bone. Limberhand has reportedly pled self defense. Additional charges are possible. *Veronica Moss*, 23, of Arapahoe, DUI and Duty to Stop. At about 11:30 p.m. on Saturday, Moss allegedly struck another vehicle with her Jeep and fled the scene. The driver of the other vehicle followed Moss to a parking lot at Central Wyoming College, where she exited the vehicle and fled on foot. Police eventually tracked her down and arrested her. There was more than $1,000 in damage caused in the wreck. *Eugene Ridgley*, 53, Ethete, Public Intoxication. *Jessica Swallow*, 22, Fort Washakie, Public Intoxication. *Shalyne Velarde*, 19, Riverton, Minor Under the Influence. An officer on patrol on Riverview Drive came upon the pair while Swallow was allegedly laying in the street and Velarde was trying to get her up. Both were intoxicated and arrested. *Calls:* At 3:30 a.m. on Friday, police were called about a couple trash containers that were hit by an unknown vehicle in the area of the 100 block of East Pershing Ave. At 11:08 a.m. on Saturday, an unknown subject stole a couple bottles of alcohol from a store. Police were unable to locate the subject. A custom grey mountain bike valued at $300 was reportedly stolen around noon on Saturday. Over the course of Saturday afternoon, police took reports of inappropriate Facebook messages and bullying. A wallet was reportedly stolen out of an unlocked vehicle at 1:48 p.m. on the 1100 block of North Forest Drive. Two subjects reportedly dined and dashed at Pizza Hut at 8:30 p.m. on Saturday after eating more than $30 worth of food. The pair reportedly fled in a white Lexus. At 10:34 a.m. on Sunday, a caller on the 600 block of North Second Street East reported that someone had smashed the side mirrors and taillights of a truck. At 1:12 p.m., a caller on the 900 block of Moose Drive called police to report that someone had put a baby's play pen in the back of his truck. He had no idea where it came from. At 4:40 p.m., police were called to a yard on East Jefferson where a loose yellow lab was attacking people. The vicious dog reportedly bit an officer's gloved hand during the incident; he was uninjured. Ultimately, the dog was pepper sprayed before it could be caught. A citation against the owner is being considered. *Fremont County Sheriff's Office* *Arrests:* *Joseph Howell*, 20, Riverton, Park County Contempt of Court. *Darwin Shakespeare*, 26, Riverton, Driving while Suspended, Driving without Interlock Device, Failure to Maintain Insurance, and Open Container of Alcohol. *Calls:* At 8:51 a.m. on Friday, emergency responders were called to a slide-off wreck off Baldwin Creek Road. There were no injuries. At 5:19 p.m., deputies were called by a pedestrian who said he was almost hit while walking along Hillcrest Drive near Lander. Deputies were unable to locate the vehicle in question. A 59-year-old man was cited for trespassing following a Saturday morning call in Pavillion. At 5:07 p.m., law enforcement was called about a woman who was disorderly and refusing to leave the 789 Smokeshop and Casino. She eventually left. At 10:21 a.m. on Sunday, deputies were called about a vehicle that was stuck on the shoreline of the river off Freedom Drive. At 9:07 p.m., deputies were called to assist a man who wanted help retrieving his camping gear from the Bruce's Camp area after he heard several gunshots in the area. The deputy stood by while the man got his gear. No further shots were heard. *Lander Police Department* *Arrests/Citations:* *A 29-year-old Riverton man* cited for Duty to Stop, No Proof of Insurance, and Suspended Driver's License following a Friday morning wreck at Main and Baldwin Creek. *A 59-year-old Lander man* was cited for Child Restraint Violation. His passenger, 36-year-old *Hiram Addison* of Ethete was arrested for an FCSO Warrant. The two were contacted following an alleged shoplifting incident at Safeway. The Lander man was trespassed from the store. *Kenneth Hebah*, 35, Lander, Public Intoxication. *Ann Howell*, 44, arrested for a Sweetwater County Warrant and cited for Speeding. *Joseph Howell*, 20, Riverton, Park County Warrant. *Eight juveniles* were cited for Minor in Possession after police were called to a home on Sweetwater Street at 9:23 p.m. on Friday. The teens were aged 14-16. *Aleena Davis*, 34, Obstruction and No Insurance. *Ralph Alley*, 42, Lander, Driving Under the Influence. *Amber Washakie*, 23, Ethete, DUI, Possession of Marijuana, No Driver's License, No Proof of Insurance, Headlight Violation, Seat belt Violation, and an FCSO Warrant. *Calls:* A wreck on Friday morning in the area of South Ninth and Dabich resulted in no injuries, no citations, and more than $1,000 in damage. At 9:50 p.m., a caller on Shoshone Avenue reported receiving harassing text messages. At 8:25 p.m. on Saturday, a caller on Johnson Street reported that their ex showed up and was acting "crazy." The woman left before police arrived. At 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, a woman on Garfield Street was bitten by a dog; the bite did break the skin and the victim sought treatment at the hospital. The report is under investigation. *Fremont County EMS* Ambulance crews responded to 42 calls for service over the weekend. *Fire Departments* Firefighters around the county responded to multiple grass fires in the Riverton and Lander areas.
