Classic Lifeguard says legal processes violated in ambulance privatization effort

Legal counsel for Classic Lifeguard, an air service provider in Fremont County, has called for the Fremont County Commission to halt the consideration of a contract to privatize the ground ambulance service. Classic's Attorney, Mort Hartwell, outlined a number of issues regarding the process in which Guardian Lifeflight's proposal was chosen for consideration by the commission to take over, at least in part, the ground ambulance service. Classic contends that Guardian's proposal did not meet the legal requirements set forth in the formal Request for Proposals and was therefore inappropriately considered by the commission. Hartwell lined out a number of items regarding costs and equipment lease details that were required to be in the proposal but did not appear in Guardian's and were later added to the contract that is under consideration. However, he said Classic adhered to all the rules set forth in the Request for Proposals. Hartwell asked the commission to either table the contract or to open up the Request for Proposals once again, and that the rules be followed this time. Neither the commission nor representatives from Guardian replied to the allegations in the meeting. Immediately following the Classic request, the commission broke for an executive session (closed to the public) for legal advice with its attorney. At the time of this post, the commission was still in the executive session after at least 15 minutes. #county10 #news
