Late Winter Storm expected to hit the Wind River basin tonight; 50 percent chance of snow

(Pitchengine Communities) * (Riverton, Wyo.) - A late winter storm system will bring snow to the West today and then tonight and Wednesday snow and rain is expected East of the Continental Divide. The National Weather Service Forecast Office at Riverton has posted a winter storm watch for most of the Wind River Basin, and a Winter Storm Warning has been posted for Beaver Rim and Southeast Fremont County through Muddy Gap and east into Natrona County. For Southeast Fremont County and Jeffrey City, expect rain showers and isolated thunderstorms this afternoon, turning to snow tonight. Snow could be quite heavy at times overnight, tapering off Wednesday morning. Snowfall amounts are predicted to range from 5 to 12 inches. The NWS is predicting visibility of under one-quarter mile at times with heavy snow and north winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts to 45 mph.
