Winter Storm Warning posted for Lander, Jeffrey City: Here it comes!

*Feature Photo: Conditions on South Pass at the Louis Lake Turnout at 6 p.m. included snow and fog: (WYDOT Web Cam / Pitchengine Communities) * (Riverton, Wyo.) - The National Weather Service has upgraded a Winter Storm Watch to a Winter Storm Warning for the Lander area beginning tonight after 6 p.m. through tomorrow at noon. The NWS said significant snow and strong wind is expected over portions East of the Continental Divide along the Lander Foothills tonight through Wednesday morning. Rain or light snow showers with isolated thunderstorms will increase this evening and overnight before tapering off early Wednesday morning. Snowfall amounts are predicted to be five to eight inches with locally higher amounts. The remainder of the Wind River Basin is under a Winter Storm Watch. The Winter Storm Warning includes SE Fremont County Some of the snowfall in the basin could be moderate to heavy at times late tonight accounpanied by gusty north to northeast winds across Eastern Fremont and Natrona Counties.
