Who is out and working on the streets in Riverton's snow?

(Riverton, Wyo.) - With nearly a foot of snow blanketing Riverton, city crews are out today opening snow routes and major roadways. We asked Public Works Director Kyle Butterfield how many employees the city dedicates to the snow removal effort. He and his staff provided the following answers: *• How many snow plow units does Riverton have for city streets?* The City has the following equipment that is used for snow removal/maintenance: 3 plows, 2 graders, 2-3 sanders, 3 front-end loaders and 2 rotaries. *• How many folks are involved in clearing snow?* Depending on how much snow has fallen, usually 5-6 employees are called out. *• How long does it take to clear the main arteries in town after a big storm?* Depending on how much snow has fallen, at least of 4-5 hours would be required to clear the main streets. *• When do the plow operators start their day and how long do they go?* During storms, employee call-outs usually begin around 4 a.m. to beat the early morning traffic on the main streets. *• Which operator has been on the job longest in town?* The Lands Division’s longest employed person is Gregg Schaub at 27 years.
